Current Artists

This section features a range of artists - covering all genres - who are working in a 'prominent' or established fashion both in and outwith Shetland at this particular time.

No doubt the word 'prominent' will solicit some debate and perhaps even be questioned, but to achieve this status the artist or group concerned must have a high profile within the islands themselves and have either performed, released material and / or been broadcast on radio or TV in a national or international context in the recent past.

Many of our young musicians have already achieved this status of course, but for information purposes we have afforded them their own seperate section - Young Shetland.

What is abundantly clear is that Shetland has always punched above its weight and continues to do so, even more so when you consider this in terms of percentage of population and relative geographical isolation.
