A young singer / songwriter who's influences include Bob Dylan and Neil Young in addition to the new wave of alternative country artists such as Ryan Adams - and boy it shows. Already with two albums under his belt, his debut 'The Desert' and the recently released 'Edges and Spaces' it's clear such heady influences have shaped his own approach and his star is clearly still on the ascendancy.
'Edges and Spaces' was acclaimed by influential journalist and BBC Radio Scotland presenter Tom Morton, who also broadcast a live session by Malachy on his national afternoon show, following the singers return from a very successful appearance on the Open Stage at Glasgow's Celtic Connections Festival 2006. Malachy takes himself and his work very seriously. For those of you who like your songs with carefully constructed, imaginative lyrics that have real feeling you should take him seriously too. Links
