Heritage Fiddlers

Never were a group of musicians so aptly named. The Heritage Fiddlers, as they are now know were once called Shetland's Young Heritage by their 'creator' Dr Tom Anderson.

Having moved on from the Forty Fiddlers, Tom single-handedly and literally forced the introduction of traditional fiddle tuition into Shetland schools, in turn becoming the first of a growing number of tutors in this respect.

Seeking, as always, a practical outlet for the music Tammy formed a group made up from those he tutored. Initially they were know as Tammy's Peerie Angels and then Shetland's Young Heritage.

Album releases together with national and international tours inevitably followed with the group subsequently making visits as far afield as the USA (including an appearance at the White House no less) and New Zealand.

Following Tammy's death the group have endured and kept his substantial legacy alive, finally becoming know simply as the Heritage Fiddlers.
