Bitumen River

With a name like Bitumen River this is unlikely to be a traditional music band. Yes famous we may be for our traditional music, but there are some very fine rock bands around into the bargain and none more so at present that Bitumen River.

Bitumen RiverBitumen River

Together intermittingly over a number of years, and via a number of line-up chages, this band has 'power' literally written all over and through it. Their usually unrelenting but always melodic assault has been tempered of late by acoustic interludes or occasionally fully acoustic sets, which has done a great deal to demonstrate their obvious musical dexterity, imagination and commitment.

The band have played a number of gigs on the UK mainland and have supported a number of 'named' bands during tours or visits to Shetland.

One thing is for sure you will never get bored at a Bitumen River gig, and the 'sting in the tail' of their live performances is not to be missed. It will make an impression on you (sometimes literally) Those of a faint heart are advised to stand well back.

A band boiling tar in their blood stream...
