Willie's World

The long awaited and much anticipated album featuring music by the late, great (indeed near legendary) Shetland guitarist 'Peerie' Willie Johnson, entitled 'Willie's World', has just been released on the famous Scottish label Greentrax Records.

The recordings on the album are a mixture of formally and 'home' recorded material, some of which was recorded during near historical sessions in the Lounge Bar in Lerwick or the homes of some of the musicians involved.

The recordings, many from Willie's own personal collection, or that of his life-long friend Billy Kay, were compiled by Willie's sister Evelyn. Sadly, although the project started before Willie's death in May 2007, Willie did not live to see the end result. "I only hope he would have been happy with what we've done and how it's turned out" said Evelyn.
