Little Green Machine Break Record

An Edinburgh based trio they may be but 'Little Green Machine' have Shetland pretty much stamped all over them, given than guitarist / vocalist Arthur Nicholson and bass player / vocalist Jack Sandison both hail from the islands.

And if the below review, courtesy of the Daily Record, is anything to go by, they may very well be standing on the brink of something pretty big and may yet cast aside the general persception that Shetland can produce nothing but good fiddle players.

One to watch and no mistake.....

Little Green Machine - Little Green Machine EP

NO Willy Wonka's Oompa-Loompas haven't formed a band in Scotland, instead
the Little Green Machine are a trio from Edinburgh.

A genre-busting eight track EP I was going to put them in the usual
alternative rock sludge-fest tray that so many unsigned bands think will
make them chart potential but actually make them sound like so many others.

And then I came to Excuse Me, Sir with its backwards tapes, dreamy guitar
and distorted vocals singing: 'walking through the desert 'neath the
marigold sun' and I was hooked.

While on their fast tunes like EP opener Bus Shelter Blues singer and
bassist Jack Sandison rolls his vowels like Johnny Lydon, spitting them out
with the same snarling fury, it's actually when he just sings in the down
tempo songs that Little Green Machine live up to the hype of some who claim
they are Scotland's next big band. While tunes like Not Like You Need have a
Fratellis-like comical flavour, for me the out-and-out track is the EP's
closing song Cocaine Daisy Chain.

Slow Like the Rolling Stones' As Tears Go By it's stunningly powerful.
And it's possibly the best track released by a Scots band signed or unsigned
this year.

The band play Bad Seed@ The Bongo Club, Edinburgh on September 26, Capitol
Rocks @ Capitol, Glasgow on September 27.
