The 2007 Shetland Folk Festival has been hailed as an oustanding success by audiences, artists and the management committee of the event alike. Tickets for the various concerts and events, totalling almost 6000, sold out in record time with demand far outstripping supply. Over 2000 memberships for the festival / club were also sold, another record according to Christine Fordyce - chairperson of the festival committee. "We are in the main delighted with the way things went over the weekend" said Christine immediately after the event. "Although the festival was one day shorter this year, due to transport difficulties, this did not seem to affect the festival and peoples enjoyment of it unduly, with feedback on almost all the events incredibly positive." "We are of course aware of some of the problems experienced during the festival, such as the queues that formed to get into the club, especially on the first night, but we will be working on solutions for these at our next committee meeting". Musicians from as far afield as Slovenia, the USA, Canada, Spain and Ireland took part in this years festival which, from a line up point of view, was generally agreed to be one of the strongest ever.
