This years annual Shetland Young Fiddler of the Year competition will be held in the Garrison Theatre, Lerwick on Friday the 18th and Saturday the 18th April, with the finals themselves held on Saturday evening. Over 100 young musicians, up to and including the age of 16, are expected to participate, competing in junior, intermediate and 'senior' sections. The two main trophies up for grabs as always are the Shetland Traditional Young Fiddler of the Year and the Shetland Young Fiddler of the Year (open competition). The two day competition is open to the public with the final night being an all ticket event. Tickets are now on sale from Islesburgh Community Centre. The competition itself is now in it's 27th year.
