The Shetland Arts youth music initiative, aimed at handing down traditional music skills and styles from older to younger generation musicians, will be taking to the road in Shetland once more in 2008 Musical tutors, laregly fiddle orientated, identified by Shetland Arts have been learning styles and skills from older generation musicians with a view to teaching younger players the art, thereby hopefully keeping many of the individual traditions (some of which differ from area to area) alive for the future. Dates for Jan and Feb 2008 are: South Nesting Hall - 14th Jan and 18th Feb - 1900 - 2100 Cullivoe Hall, Yell - 14th Jan and 18th Feb - 18.45 - 20.45 Ollaberry School - 15th Jan and 19th Feb - 19.00 - 21.00 Rankin Lounge, Aith - 15th Jan and 19th Feb - 19.00 - 21.00 Sandwick Youth Centre - 16th Jan and 20th Feb - 19.00 - 21.00 Everyone is welcome at these events, but for more details contact Richard Wemyss at Shetland Arts on (01595) 743843.
