This year's Young Fiddler of the Year competition will take place tomorrow (Friday 24th April) and Saturday in the Garrison Theatre, Lerwick.

This year the event, attracting over 80 competitors, will be judged by musical luminaries Bryan Gear, Ian Hardie and John Hutchison and compared by Caroline Moyes.

Friday - junior and intermediate (free entry to Garrison Theatre)

• 09.00 Doors open
• 09.30 to 10.15 - Traditional Intermediate
• 10.25 to 12.15 - Young Fiddler Intermediate
• 12.15 to 14.00 - Lunch Break
• 14.00 to 15.15 - Traditional Junior
• 15.30 to 16.40 - Young Fiddler Junior

Saturday - open day (free entry to Garrison Theatre)

• 09.00 Doors open
• 09.30 to 11.45 - Young Fiddler Open
• 11.55 to 12.30 - Traditional Open

Saturday evening Concert (Adults £6, OAPs and under 14s £4. Tickets from the Shetland Box Office, Islesburgh 01595 745 555 or at the door) 7.30 start.

The concert will feature performances by competition winners, and Maggie Adamson, current Young Fiddler of the Year together with a performance by adjudicator Bryan Gear and Violet Tulloch.
