Thomas Fraser, the late country singing Shetlands crofter and fisherman, is to be celebrated in a National Theatre of Scotland production. "Long Gone Lonesome", a musical story of his life directed by NTS director Vicky Featherstone and writen by Orcadian Duncan McLean, will tour the Highlands and Islands this October. The production will feature music by The Lone Star Swing Band. The show is expected to visit Shetland but no date or venue has yet been set. Other tour locations include Orkney, Dornoch, Lochinver, Thurso, Dingwall and Aberdeen. Last month a DVD of the BBC documentary "Shetland Lone Star", featuring bonus material filmed at the Thomas Fraser Festival was released. Links
