A compilation CD of alternative music from Shetland and Orkney. Read the review on the Shetland News website Shetland and Orkney are both well known for their musical capabilities and talent, however that talent is not only confined to the traditional styles. There are a number of musicians in Shetland and Orkney creating music in alternative styles too. Collecting together original compositions from a range of Shetland's and Orkney's rock, experimental, punk and other alternative musicians Kok Management has released the compilation album 'So What - Volume 3.' Showcasing the talent of each of these bands and providing a taster for anyone that wants to hear more from them, many of these artists will also be appearing at Shetland's art and music festival in July, Vunk Fest 2010 (www.myspace.com/vunkventures). Planning to continue as an annual release Kok Management hopes that this will provide a gateway for Shetland and Orkney's non-traditional musicians to be heard and recognised both in the islands and beyond. It is also hoped that it will bring other active artists out of hiding as all tracks will be considered for the compilations, whether they be gigging or just recording.
Currently on sale in Clive's, Lerwick and Grooves, Kirkwall, priced at £10. Wider distribution to other areas of the UK and Europe will be made in May. For further details contact; |
