A Shetland band, now based in Glasgow, is starting to make its mark on the national music scene. 'Shoot the Messenger', who were probably better know in Shetland as 'Cyanide', and who have played numerous gigs in their home islands over the years, are now in increasing demand on the UK mainland. They have now played six headline gigs in their own right and have now been scouted by CPL Promotions who seek out good quality bands to act as support for major touring bands in the UK. Their first gig in this respect will be on the 18th March with 'To-Mera'. The band are also currently "in talks" with indie record label 'Sonic Temple Records' to produce a single which could attract reviews and ultimately lead to a full album at a later date. They also hope to be able to undertake a full UK tour in the not too distant future into the bargain. Andrew Goodlad from Sumburgh who plays guitar with the band said "We have gained a lot of support down here and its growing faster than we could ask for. We are currently speaking to Brian Downey who used to be in Thin Lizzie about the possibility of working with his promotions company and he's been giving us some good advice to help us on our way" The full line up of 'Shoot the Messenger' is:
The band, all of whom are attending university in Glasgow, have one demo disc available called 'Obliteration', but are currently writing new songs for a possible album later this year. |
