Onward and Upward for the Biro's

Black Bic Biro seem potentially set on the road to a major label signing following their successful showcase gig in Maggie May's in Glasgow earlier this month (Nov 2007).

A large crowd, with many Shetlanders in attendance, witnessed a great performance from the band during the gig, which many reckoned outshone the headline band who featured Ronnie Wood's (Rolling Stones) son in their line up.

Interest in signing the band has increased since the event with household / international names such Warner Bros, EMI, Sony BMG, Parlophone, Rough Trade, A & M all vying for the bands signatures.

"We're keeping them at bay at the moment" said the bands interim manager Marvin Smith " until the band get a bit more stage experience under their belts. So far the labels have agreed to wait until January before seeing them".

Black Bic Biro are due to play another showcase, this time in London, sometime in the early new year.

They are also due to play two Shetland gigs - in the Symbister Hall Whalsay on the 8th December and in the Norscot Angling Club, Lerwick on the 28th December, so anyone who's not seen them as yet will have the chance to witness first hand what all the fuss is about.
