Everything seems to be happening for Shetland band 'Black Bic Biro' at the moment. Hot on the heels of supporting 'Franz Ferdinand' during their gig in Shetland, and having their recently released EP aired on Vic Galloway's BBC Scotland show in his 'Unsigned Heroes' section, now the big time potentially beckons for the band with growing interest from global record label 'Warner Brothers Records' in London. The label's representatives have been in regular contact with the band and Marvin Smith of Bleatbeat Records, who released Black Bic Biro's debut EP in September, with a view to signing to the label. "Its quite incredible" said Marvin "but it just goes to show that these things do happen for time to time. It's the first time this has happened to a band from Shetland, so that makes it all the more exciting. The lads can hardly believe what's happening to them, but we and they are simply trying to take things one step at a time". The band have also had a recent mention in the national music publication 'New Musical Express', in the best demo's of the week section, having previously sent their EP to the magazine. Black Bic Biro are now due to play a gig in front of Warners Brothers A & R and legal people, plus other interested music industry parties, on the 9th November in 'Maggie May's' in Glasgow's Merchant City, so anyone who can get along to the gig is asked to go along and give the guys your support. Possibly a gig that you will be able to say in the future "I was there". For the story courtesy of Shetland News - Click Here |
