Young Shetland fiddler Maggie Adamson won a coveted 'Danny Award' on this years open stage at Glasgow's international Celtic Connections Festival. The award, named after Danny Kyle who presented the open stage for many years prior to his death, is one of only 6 awarded annually during the festival. The open stage competition runs for the entire three weeks of the festival with around 100 acts showcasing themselves in the competition during this time. The only previous Shetland winner of a Danny Award was vocalist Jillian Isbister in 2005.
