Tickets for 'Franz Ferdinands' Shetland date sold out in less than half an hour when then went on sale in Lerwick on Saturday 28th July.

A number of people queued outside Islesburgh Community Centre overnight to be sure of getting a precious ticket for the gig when the box office opened at 9am.

Other tickets were sold over the phone from the box office and via the internet. "We tried to use all possible purchase methods to ensure as many people as possible could get a fair crack at purchasing them" said Davie Gardner of 'Atlantic Edge Music Services', the local promoters of the gig. "We tried to be mindful of people in outlying areas, especially the Northern Isles, as well as those more handily based in Lerwick" he said.

"We are of course delighted that they sold out so quickly and that everyone who showed the tenacity to hang around outside overnight was ultimately successful. Equally of course we are sorry for those who did not get a ticket and regret that we could not keep everyone happy".

Frranz Ferdinand play the Whiteness and Weisdale Hall in Shetland on Monday the 24th September.
