During the competition Gemma had to perform three specific sections being (1) A slow air and march, strathspey and reel (2) slow strathspey, hornpipe and jig and (3) four tunes by a specific composer, this year featuring the compositions of William Marshall.

Gemma was the first entrant to win the title at the first attempt, since the beginning of the competition - 17 years ago.

Gemma said "I'm gobsmacked and it's still not really sunk in yet but I'm totally delighted and surprised too".

All our congratulations go to Gemma on her terrific success
