Shetland fiddler Gemma Donald from Whiteness has been placed third in this years prestigeous Glenfiddich Scottish Fiddle Championships 2007, held at Blair Atholl Castle, Perthshire, following winnning the title last year at her very first attempt. Gemma came third to eventual winner, New York born Calum Pasqua and runner up Raemond Jappy from Aberdeenshire. Gemma said "I gave it my best shot, but the competition was very stiff again this year and I am happy with third place. The scoring was apparently very close indeed". Gemma's manager and agent Davie Gardner of Atlantic Edge Music Services said "Gemma has done incredibly well, not only to win the title last year, but to come so close to doing it again this year. Third place in certainly nothing to be downhearted agout that's for sure.. She is undoubtedly one of Shetland's rising stars on the instrument."
