Within weeks of their triumph at the Scottish Trad Awards where they won "Album of the Year", Fiddlers' Bid have had their album "All Dressed in Yellow" nominated for another prize. The album has been nominated in the "Instrumental Album of the Year" category of on the English folk music website Spiral Earth - http://www.spiralearth.co.uk/spirals2010/instrumental.asp The Shetland band, who won the coveted Scottish Trad Award at a televised ceremony in November this year (2009), recently announced two New Year homecoming concerts in Shetland to celebrate their victory: "Fiddlers' Bid's First Fittin' Night" in the Muckle Roe Hall on New Year's night - Tickets cost £12 (£8 concessions, children under 5 free) and are available from Peter Johnson - (01806) 522 671 or mobile 07876 630 899. Children under five are free of charge. Doors open at 7.30pm. "Fiddlers' Bid's New Year Spree" on Sunday 3rd January at the Whiteness and Weisdale Hall - Tickets cost £15 (£10 concession and all under-18s must be accompanied by an adult) and are available from J & K Anderson, Whiteness, Robinson and Morrison's, Weisdale, and High Level Music, Lerwick. There will be a licensed bar available and doors open at 8pm. |
