Dance the Nights Away

Shetland Arts is set to liven up the long winter nights (and afternoons) with a series of traditional dance classes aimed at all age groups, hosted by their Trad Dancer in Residence Maria Leask.

'Peerie Dancers' is aimed at bairns under 5 and will take place on the 27th October in Room 5 Islesburgh House from 2pm - 3pm and again in the Brae Hall on 3rd November from 2pm - 3pm.

All children must be accompanied by an adult and the cost is £2 per child. Booking is essential and should be done via Shetland Arts on (01595) 743843.

'Strictly Trad Dancing', again hosted by Maria, will be held in the Tingwall Hall on the 9th, 16th and 23rd November from 7 - 9pm. The evenings, aimed at the 17+ age group, will concentrate on polka's and reels and again bookings can be done via Shetland Arts on the above number. Places cost £3 per week.

Meanwhile Shetland Arts Development Agency is gathering information about dance activity in the community to assist the development of a new dance development programme. For the full story courtesy of Shetland Today - Click Here
