A bumper crop of Shetland CDs have been released in the run up to this years festive season showcasing some of Shetland's most talented musicians.

"Spencie's Tunes 2" by Steven Spence

Steven Spence last week released the second 'Spencie's Tunes' CD and illustrated tune book combo. Steven teamed up with Shetland musicians Jonathan Ritch and Alice Mullay to produce 'Spencie's Tunes 2' which features a whopping 36 original compositions by the inexhaustible Unst composer.

"Anidder Een!" by Maggie Adamson & Brian Nicholson

Current Young Fiddler of the Year Maggie Adamson produces another enthralling performance with seasoned guitarist Brian Nicholson. The 19 track CD features a varied selection of compositions including slow airs, rousing Eastern European stompers and Shetland favourites such as "The Hens March Ower Da Midden".

"Kebister Head" by Bryan Gear and Violet Tulloch

The long awaited debut CD from Shetland fiddler Bryan Gear features perennial accompanists Violet Tulloch and Jack Robertson. The CD is officially launched on 4th December but a local shop keeper reports that copies have already been "flying out the door".

"That Far Away Land" by the late Thomas Fraser

The fourth CD of archive recordings of the late Burra country singer Thomas Fraser was released to coincide with the Thomas Fraser festival held in early November. The CD features 25 tracks painstakingly remastered by his grandson Karl Simpson.
