Brassed Off

Lerwick Brass Band, who first formed around 1870, are on the lookout for new members.

The band currently has around 22 members, plus a few students who return to join the band when home from college or university on the mainland.

Band member Davy Thomson said "Throughout Shetland there must be lots of people who can play brass instruments, especially given that so many learn during instrumental tuition time in schools throughout the islands. We need additional players in all sections of the band and would welcome anyone who is interested in playing and joining the band to come along to practices on Tuesdays at 7.30pm in the Gilbertson Park Games Hall.

Anyone who would like more information should contact Davy on (01595) 694006
