A compilation of Shetland artists playing what record company Vunk Ventures refer to as "non traditional music" has just been released.

Shetland is well known for its musical talent which is not only confined to the traditional styles. There are a number of musicians in Shetland creating music in alternative styles that unfortunately often go unheard, partly due to the lack of a suitable location to showcase their music.

Collecting together original compositions from 10 of Shetland's groove metal, punk and alternative bandsVunk Ventures has released the compilation album 'So What.' Showcasing the talent of each of these bands and providing a taster for anyone that wants to hear more from them.

Planned as an annual release Vunk Ventures hopes that this will provide a gateway for Shetland's non-traditional musicians to be heard and recognised both in Shetland and beyond. It is also hoped that it will bring the garage bands and bedroom artists out of hiding as all tracks will be considered for the compilations.

Currently on Sale at music shops in Lerwick priced at £10. Wider distribution to Orkney, mainland UK, Faroe Islands, Europe, USA, Canada, New Zealand and Australia will be made in January.
